Sprouts of Self-Governance

Project Objective
To «awaken» leaders of territorial communities, professional associations, and active citizens to recognize the role of local self-governance as a key element of democratic systems and state sovereignty.
Target Audience
- Leaders and activists of territorial communities;
- Representatives of local self-governance;
- Civil society organizations;
- Professional and expert communities;
- Youth and citizens interested in developing direct democracy and participation in governance.
Main Project Goals
Step-by-step explanation of the role and place of territorial communities in the structure of strong, independent states, where individuals, their dignity, and responsibility form the basis for creating rules and decisions implemented by the state.
The «Sprouts of Self-Governance» project was implemented by the Civil Society Development Foundation of Ukraine in collaboration with the NGO «Public Council of Self-Governance» and the I-UA.TV channel throughout 2023–2024.
Implementation Stages
As part of the «Sprouts of Self-Governance» project, an informational program titled «Is a Responsible Society Formed in Territorial Communities?» was conducted. This program focused on discussing the role of local communities in the restoration and renewal of Ukraine.
Program participants explored how to initiate the process of forming structured territorial communities in buildings, neighborhoods, and villages starting today.

Evaluation of Project Effectiveness
The discussions, arguments, and conclusions of the program participants were largely supported by leaders of territorial communities and professional associations.
